We’re so excited to tell you about the amazing work that the Ashland County Land Bank is doing!
Our goal is to turn vacant and distressed properties into valuable assets for our community.
We were established under Ohio Revised Code 1724 and have been working tirelessly since our first meeting in April 2018 to revitalize Ashland County. Our team is dedicated to reclaiming abandoned properties and making sure they are put to good use.
We want to make sure our land is used efficiently and has a positive impact on our community.
Our mission is pretty simple. We constantly aim to
Reclaim, rehabilitate, and reutilize vacant and abandoned properties.
Not only does this enhance property values and neighborhood safety, but it also helps foster a thriving community by putting land back into productive use.
Excellent, right?
The Ashland County Land Bank was created to deal with abandoned and tax-foreclosed properties back in April 2018. Since then, we’ve been working hard to make things better.
We’ve put policies and procedures in place and consulted with top-notch legal help. Plus, our team and board are constantly making thoughtful decisions for the organization to benefit our great county.
It’s great for the community — making it safer, increasing property values, and supporting local government and small businesses.
First, we take title and get custody of the land, making sure we own it cleanly.
Next, we take care of any paperwork and taxes so that the new owners don’t have to worry about it.
Then, we make the property better by fixing it up and making it safe. We can even supervise demolitions, help with big projects, or make it available for public use.
Finally, when it’s time to sell, we make sure to choose a buyer who will be good for the community, not just the one who offers the most money. Plus, we hold it tax free until we find the perfect buyer.
Incredibly strategic and operationally savvy, Bill’s also one of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. Thanks to his leadership, our organization is thriving and growing.
Our talented team is made up of three statutory members, handpicked for their expertise and dedication to the county. Alongside the County Treasurer and two County Commissioners, we have a representative from the largest city in the county, ensuring a well-rounded perspective. The remaining members were carefully selected by our core team, ensuring a diverse and knowledgeable group.
